BIOGRAPHY

My name is Frank Paredes also known as Frank Wallz also known as REBEL. I am an artist and graphic designer. Born and raised in San Diego being Drawing was my first artistic avenue following drawing I started doing artwork on the computer then moved on to screen printing. Then later moved on to screen printing, photography, aerosol, and now painting. Type color form structure chaos contrast simple and complicated. These are just some words that come to mind when I look at any of my pieces. I work with 4 identities when doing artwork designer, painter, graffiti artist, street artist. These 4 personalities are always battling in my mind and create a cohesive mixture to create one persona. These persona's are pushing my work to the next level implementing new techniques and styles within every piece. Some pieces have a distinct medium that can be seen throughout the work and is easy to define while others contain a mixture of mediums that in the end come together to form one. Some of my work has a distinct message that I am trying to convey and spark conversation. While other pieces I am doing have little to no messages at all. Some issues I do try to comment on with my artwork are social movements and human rights. In many of my pieces the use of collage can be found. The layering process is something I find myself using many times so I can really see the piece build and change as I am working on it. I’m always trying to develop new techniques and learn something new with every piece I do. Each piece I do is an exploration within myself and ideas. Whatever I am feeling is expressed on the canvas.
I pull inspiration from a lot of things around San Diego culture and day to day life. Everything from colors foods to culture.  My inspiration first and for most comes from San Diego all the artists who have helped me get to the point I am at today and also artists that I have met along the way and continue to stay active in the art community.  Without those people I would not be where I am at today.  I have participated in over 30 shows and am currently working on 4 mural projects around San Diego.  My advice to anyone who wants something is to work hard practice and stay hungry and believe in what you do.  With time and hard work good things will come.
